In the recent development, due to the relentless pounding from the Florence, it has been downgraded from the hurricane to the tropical depression which is said to be the most troublemaker. It has submerged with the large portions of the Carolinas which have killed at least 17 people, and they have left about 575,000 households as well as businesses without the electricity.
It has been seen that due to Florence, dams, and levees in the areas are now showing the signs of the distress as the rivers are now overrun the banks and the authorities have now issued the warning about more floods that will come to the areas of concerned. Landslides are also a great concern for the authorities which is especially in North Carolina’s western mountains.
There are tens of thousands who have faced the mandatory evacuation orders which are from the communities that are along the state’s steady rising rivers. The rivers that are rising and are projected to overrun their banks are Lumber, Little, Cape Fear, and Pee Dee rivers.
Florence which is now a slow-moving storm seems to be located at about 45 miles north of Greenville, South Carolina. At about 11 PM EDT on Sunday, it was expected that it would cause about 40 inches of rain on North Carolina before heading towards north from Tuesday. As per the National Hurricane Center, flooding, as well as catastrophic river flooding, will continue to over the significant portion of the Carolinas.
Till now Emergency personnel has done near to 900 water rescues in North Carolina as per governor’s office and despite this more than hundred still out there who all seeking the help. The efforts of rescuing them are now difficult as all the roads which include the interstates 95 and 40 have got closed.
